TELUS Summer Visions Film Institute for Youth

Introducing Reuben

April 23, 2010

Hello.

Allow me to introduce a new member to the team, Reuben the unofficial mascot of Summer Visions. A little bit about this fine beast. Reuben is 6 years old and has a strong passion for film making. His favorite movies include: Turner and Hooch, Air Bud, K9, and Homeward Bound. He hopes to become well known in the animal acting industry. If only he could stay still without chasing a ball…. Though he may look mean make no mistake Reuben loves to meet new people and make lots of new friends. Perhaps you may be his next best bud when you join us this year for Summer Visions.

Forever Yours,

Gabe

Slurpees: the staple diet of anyone who takes part in Summer Visions

We’re Back.

And this time my blogging skills have gotten better. I am determined to keep all of you in the loop and I may have some time to add some video too. So strap on your camera bags and get ready to drink a lot of slurpees because Summer Visions is starting up. Looking forward to seeing you all come out!

Forever Yours.

Program D !

August 7, 2009

Okay! I blinked and then a couple of days passed on me. Again I apologize for the lack of blogging. So we are at the end of Program D and I gotta admit it was pretty fly. It was the first time in a while that I remembered everyone’s name and a little bit about them. For instance, one of the participants is named Glenn and he is super stoked on being here. He always has something funny to add.

Tonight we are having the rough cut screening at 7:00pm in the auditorium at Templeton High School. The address is 727 Templeton Drive. If you’re interested in coming please enter through the entrance located at Lakewood Dr. and Georgia St.  I can’t wait to see everyone there! I am so proud of  how hard all the groups have worked on their productions and I know they will be a hit.

In the News Again!

August 5, 2009

Summer Visions got some more media coverage today when Burnaby Now published an awesome piece about the program. Journalist Jonathan Hutchings came down to Templeton last week to check out the camp and talk to some of the participants from Burnaby. The result is a thoroughly rad article about Summer Visions that focuses on the filmmakers—what the camp is all about!

Read it here.

In the News

July 23, 2009

North Shore News, North Vancouver’s local paper, is doing a feature on Summer Visions that comes out today! The story is trying to help spread the news about the full scholarships we still have left for teens from North and West Vancouver interested in Summer Visions Program D. Hint hint for anyone from this area who has yet to sign up!

We’re really excited about this first bit of media buzz and look forward to lots more as the summer goes on.

Yikes! Apologies for not keeping up to date on this so much has happened.

First off I’d like to express my joy and happiness  to all of the participants to Program A. You were an energetic and enthusiastic bunch of media makers. My two weeks with one group in particular was such  a blast!

The rough cut screening went great! All in all it was a magical night. Everyone had a great night!

Now we are at the halfway point of Program B and C. This week has been action packed. We had to move out of our rooms and then we had the carpet soaked by some mysterious leak of water! YIKES! The smell alone is enough to make you think of grilled cheese or some kind of cheddar. So as you can see there has been very little time to update this blog. But hopefully I will be more on top of it.

Forever Yours,

Gabe
